The Ballet and and Opera Experimental Studio “Ludovic Spiess” (BOES), within the framework of the National opera House in Bucharest (NOB), organizes a singing master-class taught by baritone EDUARD TUMAGIAN. The classes will take place in the period 8th -18th of March 2010, at the NOB, between 2:00 – 6:00 p.m., and are meant for the young lyrical artists, students and graduates of Music Academies.
Applications can be made in the period 24th of February – 8th of March 2010.

1. Application form ( registration_form)
All participants (both active and passive) are asked to fill in the application form which can be taken from the BOES office or can be downloaded from the site www.operanb.ro (Eduication division) and to e-mail it to seob @ operanb.ro or to send it by mail to the BOES office. The entrance in the hall will be permitted according to the participation lists.
2. Attendance Fee
The attendance fee for the actiuve participants is 400 lei, while that for the passive participants is 200 lei.
The entrance is free of charge for NOB employees (both active and passive participants.

Fees should be paid until the 8th of March 2010.
Fees cannot be reimbursed and do not include the participants’ accommodation/meals expenses.

Eduard Tumagian is now a famous name. He was born in Bucharest and graduated the Ciprian Porumbescu Music Conservatory, the singing class taught by Prof. Viorel Ban. He was awarded prizes at competitions in Vienna, Paris, Toulouse, Barcelona, Treviso, Vercelli, Verviers and Hertogenbosch.
He carried out his carreer on the world’s greatest stages: Teatro alla Scala di Milano (debut under the musical conducting of Riccardo Muti), Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Teatro Colon in Buenos-Aires, Covent Garden in London, Opera Garnier and Opera Bastille in Paris; in addition to them, mention should be made of a long list of opera theaters in Basel, Bordeaux, Bilbao, Toulouse, Munich, Zurich, Vienna, Bonn, Geneva, Palermo, Turin and Brussels. He also participated in the festivals at Salzburg, Lausanne and Oviedo. He went on tours with the Teatro alla Scala di Milano in Japan, he sang at Carnegie Hall in New York (in the opera “Nabucco” by Giuseppe Verdi, again under the baton of Riccardo Muti).
In May 2000, he participated in the concert “George Enescu by the end of the Millenium”, which took place in the Mihail Jora Studio of the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Corp. In June 2001, he performed the part Simon Boccanegra in the homonymous opera by Verdi – for the first time in a concert version in Romania. In 2003, he performed, on the same stage, the part Barnaba in the opera “La Gioconda” by Amilcare Ponchielli.
In 2002, while celebrating his 60th birthday, Eduard Tumagian was awarded the National Merit Order-Commander Degree. Also, in 2002, he sang in Verdi’s operas “Simon Boccanegra” in Tel-Aviv, “Les vepres siciliennes” at the Opera Bastille in Paris, “Rigoletto” and “Il Trovatore” at the Open Air Festival – Switzerlamd. He was accompanied by the symphonic orchestra of the Berlin Philharmonic in the concert entitled “Eduard Tumagian sings Italian Music”.
The artist recorded the integral operas “Rigoletto”, “Simon Boccanegra”, “Falstaff” and “Othello” by Giuseppe Verdi; “Gianni Schicchi” by Giacomo Puccini, “I Pagliacci” by Ruggiero Leoncavallo, “Cavalleria rusticana” by Piedro Mascagni, “War and Peace” by Serghei Prokofiev. Among his video recordings, it is worth mentioning “La Traviata” and “Luisa Miller” by Giuseppe Verdi, and a concert with Placido Domingo.
He sang under the baton of famous conductors such as Riccardo Muti, Claudio Abbado, Alain Lombard, Nello Santi, Daniel Oren, Mstislav Rostropovici and Gianandrea Gavazzeni.
Eduard Tumagian is a landmark of the contemporary performing art, a symbol of the lyrical theater of the 20th century and of the beginning of the 21st century.
