PREMIERE - THE SEA GIRL

11th of October 2009, 11:00 a.m.

afis_fata_marii.jpgThe Ballet and Opera Experimental Studio “Ludovic Spiess” (BOES) opens the season 2009-2010 with the premiere of the performance “The Sea Girl”, a choreographic poem for children; the music and libretto are signed by composer Carmen Petra Basacopol. The event will take place on Sunday, the 11th of October 2009, at 11.00 a.m., in the Yellow Foyer of the National Opera House in Bucharest (NOB).
The choreography of the performance belongs to Maria Popa, while the scenography to Ana Maria Marin, who makes her debut with this performance on the NOB stage. The story teller is the actress Cornelia Pavlovici.
Among the ballet solo dancers contributing to the performance there are Manuela Dragomir, Alexandru Ducan and Mircea Ionita, instrumentalists Lidia Butnariu (piano), Luiza Carlan (flute), Emese Ildiko Achim (cello) and Rares Dan Pahontu (percussion) and a ballet ensemble formed by students of the Choreography High School Floria Capsali.
The youngest audience is invited to watch a sensitive story, in which the real characters and the fabulous ones meet in the wonderful world of the sea. The message conveyed by this fairy tale by means of the beauty of the dance, the delicacy of the music, and the profoundness of the words is that of making the right choice in one’s life, at the cost of both joy and sacrifice.
The choreographic poem for children “The Sea Girl” is the most recent creation of the composer Carmen Petra Basacopol and it will be performed as an absolute premiere, in the NOB Yellow Foyer. Basacopol’s concern for children music was a constant characteristic of her entire creation as a composer.
By staging this performance, BOES means to promote Romanian musical creation, giving the very young artists who make their debuts the chance to revaluate their talent, and to cultivate a new generation of opera and ballet audience.
