The first staging of “Don Pasquale” in Bucharest took place in 1910 (before the founding of the Romanian Opera House as an institution, only in 1921). The second staging was achieved in the season 1968-1969, directed by Jean Rânzescu, under the baton of conductor Constantin Bugeanu. The cast included famous artists such as: Constantin Gabor, Eduard Tumagian, Lucian Marinescu, Valentin Teodorian, Elena Simionescu etc. This staging was resumed in the 80’s and was performed until the 90’s.
The National Opera House in Bucharest places this opera title on the posters, in a new direction signed by the young director Rares Zaharia. The scenography of the performance belongs to Adriana Urmuzescu. The NOB orchestra and choir, trained by Master Stelian Olariu, also contribute to the opera show.
