corina_dumitrescu.jpgNOB leading ballerina Corina Dumitrescu will perform the title role in “Giselle”, the performance which will open on Sunday, the 11th of October 2009, at 6:30 p.m., the ballet season 2009-2010 of the greatest lyrical stage in the country.

The premiere of the performance “Giselle” took place in the former season , on the 2nd of May 2009, in a new direction signed Mihai Babuska. The choreography adapted after the classical one, belongs to Jules Perrot, Jean Coralli and Marius Petipa. The scenography was conceived by Adriana Urmuzescu, while the musical conducting belongs to Ciprian Teodorascu. It is for the first time that Corina Dumitrescu performs the leading role in this staging.

The cast of the performance on the 11th of October includes, beside Corina Dumitrescu, other great dancers of the National Opera House in Bucharest: Ovidiu Matei Iancu (Albert), Virgil Ciocoiu (Hans), Adina Tudor (Myrtha), Andra Ionete, Vlad Toader (Giselle’s Friends) a.s.o.

foto_evgheni_oneghin1.jpgThe National Opera House in Bucharest opens the new season on Saturday, the 10th of October 2009, at 6:30 p.m., with the performance “Evgheni Oneghin” by Piotr Ilici Ceaikovski. The premiere of this staging took place in the former season, on the 22nd of March 2009, and was directed by Ion Caramitru, 130 years after the absolute premiere of the opera “Evgheni Oneghin” in Moscow (the 29th of March 1879).

The opening performance of the season 2009-2010 presents soloists Iordache Basalic (Oneghin), Teodor Ilincai (Lenski), Crina Zancu (Tatiana), Oana Andra (Olga), Pompeiu Harasteanu (Gremin), Gabriela Dragusin (Larina), Ecaterina Ţutu (Filipievna), Florin Diaconescu (Triquet), Radu Pintilie (Captain / Zaretsky).

The musical conducting belongs to Iurie Florea. The decors are achieved by Maria Miu, while the costumes are signed Viorica Petrovici. Other members of the creation team contributed to this production: Stelian Olariu – choir master, Florin Fieroiu – choreography, Florica Stanescu, Mirela Simniceanu – stage movement and choreography, and Chris Jaeger – light designer.
